The newly combined company also landed a $17 million Series A led by 7wireVentures. The venture firm is an existing investor in SameSky Health. Health insurance giant Elevance Health, formerly known as Anthem, an existing investor in GroundGame Health, also participated in the round. By addressing these barriers together, GroundGame CEO Susan Rawlings Molina said, GroundGame and SameSky can help more patients access healthcare while saving money for payers. While SameSky's technology can help underserved patients seek out care, GroundGame can close the loop by removing barriers to their access to that care, she said.

Broadway shows usually come with a back story about the yearslong slog it took to get them there. Not so with Heidi Schreck’s new translation of Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya,” which arrived at Lincoln Center Theater’s Vivian Beaumont Theater not even 12 months after its inception. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, it is Schreck’s first Broadway show since “What the Constitution Means to Me,” in 2019, and the ensemble is a starry one. William Jackson Harper, best known for “The Good Place,” plays Astrov, the eco-nerd doctor whom Sonia loves. Anika Noni Rose, a Tony Award winner for “Caroline, or Change,” is the glamorous Elena, Sonia’s stepmother, for whom both Vanya and Astrov yearn.

Ron DeSantis that gave the tribe exclusive rights to run sports wagers as well as casino gambling on its reservations. The companies sued Deb Haaland, secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior, which oversees tribal gambling. State economic forecasters predict the revenue sharing from tribal gaming could total $4.4 billion through the end of this decade. The pari-mutuel firms also sued DeSantis and leaders of the Florida Legislature, which authorized the compact, in a case pending before the Florida Supreme Court. The tribe argued the legislature has the authority to decide where online gambling is initiated and the amendment doesn't change that.

But there's also a blooming black market in greenhouse gases. HFCs are commonly used in refrigerators and air conditioners, but they're also potent greenhouse gases. The fear of the ongoing crackdown by President Daniel Ortega – on the Catholic Church in particular but not sparing evangelicals – has become so pervasive that it is silencing criticism of the authoritarian government and even mentions of the repression from the pulpit. Her work recording hundreds of instances of church persecution recently won her an International Religious Freedom Award from the U.S. State Department. “If it’s dangerous to pray the rosary in the street, it is exceedingly so to report attacks,” Molina said. Despite the growing fear, many faithful continue to attend church services – where they remain available. “The dictatorship, what it wants is to completely eliminate the Catholic faith, because they haven’t succeeded in making the church kneel before them,” Molina said.

CNN —Nestled in the Pyrenees mountains, La Molina is Spain’s oldest ski resort. An industry in perilSpain has been struggling with scorching heat waves and a years-long drought, and Catalonia, the region where La Molina is located, has been particularly hard hit. But La Molina is far from the only ski resort trying to plot a future in a warmer, dryer world. “Current best estimates are that 95% of ski resorts rely on snowmaking to some extent to remain viable,” Orr told CNN. That’s exactly what the La Molina project aims to do — to see if the lab results can be replicated in the real world.

Rising bond yields have thrown cold water on the major averages, but a few winners may emerge even if rates remain elevated. These developments have spurred worries that the Fed policymakers could keep rates higher for longer. Bond prices and yields are inversely related, which means that as yields rise, bond prices will fall. Generally, insurers benefit when interest rates rise , since their investment portfolios will generate more yield. Shares of both real estate investment trusts, which specialize in communications services, could take a hit as higher rates make their dividends less attractive.

The giant health insurers Cigna and Humana are reportedly considering a merger. While they offer different kinds of health insurance, the deal is likely to face antitrust scrutiny. Still, Cigna and Humana did toy with a deal way back in 2014 before they pursued deals with other partners. Later, to sidestep antitrust scrutiny, health insurers eyed mergers with other pieces of the healthcare system outside of insurance. Cigna and Humana would face a more skeptical Justice DepartmentAny deal between health insurers the size of Cigna and Humana would have to get past the Justice Department's antitrust enforcers.

That means the growth stocks that dominated for years may come back to earth in the mid-2020s. He also recommends that investors diversify away from growth stocks that thrived under low rates and instead broaden out to value-oriented names. The parties also asked that Judge Swain hold the city in contempt for violating a 2015 agreement that required it to make sweeping reforms. A spokesman for the city’s Law Department, Nick Paolucci, said on Saturday that the administration had made progress to address longstanding problems at Rikers and that receivership was not the solution to fix the jail system. Mr. Adams has not named a successor. The city will have a chance to respond to the filings, and then the plaintiffs will have another opportunity to answer, he said, adding that it could be well into next year before Judge Swain makes a determination on the question of receivership. To date, the city has failed to grasp the “urgency and severity” of the crisis it has created, said Mary Lynne Werlwas, director of the Prisoners’ Rights Project at the Legal Aid Society.

REUTERS/Stringer/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 18 (Reuters) - Nicaragua sent a dozen Catholic priests who had been "processed" by judicial authorities to Rome on Wednesday, the government said, the latest action, a critic said, in a government crackdown on the church. President Daniel Ortega has at times accused Catholic church leaders of seeking to overthrow his government, while judicial authorities have arrested priests and accused some of committing treason, among other crimes. An exiled Nicaraguan researcher who publishes records of what she describes as the persecution of the Catholic Church under Ortega said sending the priests to Rome was a "forced removal." The researcher, Martha Patricia Molina, accused Ortega of seeking to "strangle and disappear" the church with such action. Bishop Rolando Alvarez, perhaps Ortega's most prominent Catholic critic, was this year sentenced to a 26-year jail term on treason charges, but was not among the 12 priests the government sent to Rome.

September has been unkind to stocks – living up to its historical reputation as the weakest month for the S & P 500 . Still, some Club stocks have been able to buck the downward trend since the start of the month — and none more so than Humana (HUM). The health insurer advanced 7.3% through Friday's close, putting it among the top-10 performing stocks in the S & P 500 over that stretch. In a year largely characterized by outperformance in technology stocks, health care has been one of the worst S & P 500 sectors . The stock entered Monday's session down more than 11% in 2023, the third-worst of any Club stock.
